Peter FitzSimons' recent novel, Burke & Wills, is our first monthly read.
The book was the first choice of the four members attending the inaugural meeting of the club at the Beechworth Youth Centre.
Book Club members hope Peter FitzSimons will autograph a copy for the club when he launches his book at the Burke Museum on Tuesday 20 February. His talk will give members plenty to consider when they meet to discuss the book on 15 March.
We are having our Enrolment Day at 10 am on Tuesday 6th Feb at BYC. Even if you have enrolled on-line please come along to share morning tea together and hear more about this year’s program. Some of our course presenters will be there to enlighten you further regarding their offerings. Our President Pauline Savy will address the meeting at about 10.15.
Tech Savvy Seniors is the first cab off the rank on Thursday 2pm at BYC. Garth will help you with any tech problems you are having on your laptop computer, tablet or smartphone.
The following week our program commences in earnest. On Tuesday 13th at 2pm at BYC Linda Bunn will present her experiences of working as a midwife in the East End of London in 60’s. You will need to enrol on-line or on enrolment day for this event as it looks like being a sell-out.
The Tastes and Conversations Group has its first meeting for 2018 at BYC at 10am on Wed. Feb 14th. Planning the monthly events for the year ahead will be the main topic of conversation. I’m sure there will also be time to exchange a few tips and enjoy a nice morning tea.
Indigo U3A Men’s Book Group is having its inaugural meeting at BYC on Thursday 15th at 2pm. The meeting will scope out the year ahead.
Tech Savvy Seniors will run in the smaller room at BYC at the same time as Men’s Book Group.
Joyce Wilkinson will contact new members regarding meeting for a coffee in Beechworth on Friday 16th Feb at 10 am. Some of our members have developed a small information kit to give to new members.
Don’t forget about our Filmgoers Group. After you have enrolled on-line you will be notified by email when the group is going to see a film in Albury or Wang. The notice you receive may be short as films are often only on for a limited time. If you need help to enrol advise the tech assistants on Enrolment Day or reply to this e-mail.
A recently updated document outlining the program for 2018 is attached. Due to a variety of reasons new events can be added and changes can be made at any time during the semester. We will attempt to notify you of any changes through these regular emails to all members. The on-line membership management system (UMAS) facilitates notification of changes by email.
